Rigid Heddle Loom Beginner’s Woven Scarf Workshop

In this all day workshop, you’ll learn how to set up a Rigid Heddle Loom for weaving using the direct warp method and create your first scarf!  We’ll cover tips for keeping your woven edges even and tricks to solve common problems.  No prior experience is necessary.

Please note that standing, walking, bending over and reaching repetitively with both arms are necessary for this class.  If you have any physical restrictions, please contact us so we can discuss accommodation options.

Student Supplies:  Bring two skeins (approximately 400 yards total) of a smooth, plied (not singles) worsted or DK weight yarn, such as Cascade 220.  If your yarn is in a hank, please wind it into a cake prior to class.  One skein will be for your warp and one skein will be for your weft.  Two different colors are suggested for ease of seeing the weft, but not required.

Loaner looms will be available for use during class or you’re welcome to bring your own 16" to 24"  loom* in good working order with an 8 or 7.5 dent heddle, along with a warping peg and sley hook.  At registration, please send us an email to indicate if you want to borrow or bring a loom.

Ashford SampleIt Rigid Heddle looms are available for sale at the shop if you’d like to purchase your own (assembly is required).  Additionally, we are happy to special order any Ashford looms or products you desire.
