You might be up for the Choose Your Own Adventure sweater if …

  • You’re an intermediate knitter and want to try your first sweater.
  • You’re an experienced knitter and want an easy knit that fits you or your wearer well.
  • You have yarn you’re dying to make a sweater out of but don’t have a pattern for it (HINT: we’ll develop your sweater around your swatch!).

This is a simple stockinette garment with a three knitting options:

  1. Top-down raglan sweater
  2. Vest with picked up fronts (no sleeves!)
  3. Cardigan with picked up fronts and sleeves

From there, we’ll figure out cuffs, button bands, and borders to give the work some pizzaz!

About the Teacher:

I’ve been knitting since 2004, predictably I was horrible at it in the beginning.

I like meditative, simple knits where I don’t really follow a pattern but give me something that fits my unique body and what I deem comfortable.

I taught my first knitting class on the Sunrise Circle Jacket at Simpatico Knits in Bedford, TX in 2006.

I worked at Madaline Tosh in 2013 and helped knitters there.

I worked at Quixotic Knits in Whitesboro in 2017, helping knitters find their fade.

Professionally, I work as a technical writer, explaining how to do something is my thing.

About the Class:

Class meets every Saturday 3-5 PM in February 2024

Class is limited to 5 participants; I want to make sure everyone gets the help they need.

During the week I’ll respond to texts within 12 hours

Week 1: Measuring your swatch, measuring you/your person, deciding on a pattern (top-down or pick-up fronts and sleeves), and making calculations.
Week 2: Cast on, increases, working the back neck short rows, why frogging is your friend.
Week 3: Splitting off the sleeves, working the body, planning edges, and no more sleeve island.
Week 4: More edges, more sleeves, finishing, blocking, and do we need more time?

*** In true "Choose Your Own Adventure" style, you can choose to sign up for all four weeks or just one or two. Keep in mind that we only have five spots in any given class, so if you think you'd like to attend all sessions, sign up before it fills up.
